Getting Organized For Summer
/We love summertime. There’s nothing better than a fresh outdoor space that feels like an extension of your home! Here’s some tips for creating and organizing your outdoor space.
1) Fresh Linens
Fresh linens will bring an instant dose of comfort to your outdoor space. Add waterproof cushions to chairs, and pillows to outdoor seating spaces, and adorn the space with outdoor friendly blankets. Add rugs to define sitting areas. We suggest adding a trunk or special covered storage bin to store linens when not in use or on colder nights to avoid moisture buildup.
2) Seating friendly storage
There are plenty of seating options that dual as storage for your outdoor space. We love Suncast chests, because they look great and last a lifetime (and are easy to wipe clean with a Magic Eraser.
3) Outdoor Lighting
Lighting can really bring life to an outdoor space (and is essential for using these spaces in the lovely warm evenings). We suggest varying the type of lighting sources in your space if possible, consider hanging solar lights in addition to those that set atop of tables and traditional stake solars, we are particularly fond of those that cast a design like these. Install post lights or post caps to the top of decks to really brighten up a space. There are lovely hand-painted solar lights available on Etsy that can really define a space and those that create shapes and shadows are conversations starters. Remember that if you invest in quality solar lights you can replace the batteries every year without replacing them.
4) Creative Stacking
Outdoor spaces can often be difficult to create because the space is unbound by walls. Not only are options limitless but it can be difficult to bring the space together. By stacking storage boxes, planters, and tables you can easily define a sitting area or create a creative space. This also can help to create additional storage for this area. Consider stacking boxes near usable focal points, like tables and chairs, hot tubs BBQs (of course not too close), and hammocks. Here’s a great DIY by Ginger Casa.
