Cleaning Tips for Busy Homes

Busy homes tend to get messy quick. Wether you are a person or family that travels often, a home full of pets or kids, or a very active lifestyle, I’m sure you find that you need to dedicate time to cleaning your space, or it can become very messy very quickly. Creative organization is key.

Here are four housekeeper tips for keeping a busy home tidy.

1) Identify your Busiest Spaces

Identify the busiest spaces in your home and consider how this space is used and what is cluttering the space. For example, entry-ways tend to be a very busy space for most homes. If you’re a home that removes shoes at the door perhaps add a shoe rack or creative storage for shoes. If you are an active home or find that you have a lot of grab and go items like backpacks, workout bags, or yoga mats, add baskets or stack crates in your entry way to easily stow, and grab these items on the go. Hooks and storage bars are great for hats and jackets.

2) Clear the Clutter

Clutter makes even the cleanest spaces feel overwhelming. Identify your “collection” areas, or areas that tend to collect clutter and consider what types of storage might help to tidy this area. Sometimes a small piece of furniture like a bookshelf or storage cabinet can really tidy a space.

3) Opt for Dual Storage When Possible

Storage that serves as multi purpose is key to keeping a busy home organized. Ottomans are great linen storage or if you have children stuffed animals or plush toys. Chests that dual as seating are great as well as window seats. Murphy beds are also fantastic options sleeping options for small spaces.

4) Wheeled storage

Rolling carts and wheeled storage units are fantastic mobile organization options for items that can be stowed away and aren’t used every day—consider craft supplies, wrapping papers, office supplies, games and puzzles. Some are so stylish you just might want to incorporate them into your everyday space. Check out this one on Apollo.
