How to Organize like a TikToker

We’ve all seen those videos on TikTok, right? The ones where the camera pans to the fridge and the text scrolls across the screen that reads, “Let’s restock.” You can’t click away. It’s become a bit of an addiction.

Sure, the videos look great, but how much work must it be to keep your refrigerator looking that organized? Here’s a secret - it looks waaay harder than it really is. The key is having the right tools on hand to get the job done efficiently. And it doesn’t matter what size your fridge is, this can work for everyone (even mini fridges).

Here’s what you’ll need (we’ve included links to some of our favorite items):

  • Refrigerator organizational tubs. You can typically find packages of these on Amazon with different sizes. Choose one that works well for your refrigerator. We liked this one

  • If the package of containers that you purchase don’t come with liners, you’ll want to grab some of those. They come in all shapes and sizes and even colors!

  • Cleaning supplies. Because if you’re going to pull everything out of the fridge, why not?

Now that you’ve removed everything, let’s get organized!

Step 1: Decide how you want to group items together. All the condiments can go into one organizer. You can sort yogurts into another organizer. If you want a video that’s helpful on sorting, check this one out

Step 2: Now that you’ve got your groups, make sure your shelves are all wiped down and sanitized. Using your liners, line the bottoms of your shelves and drawers. This will make cleaning your fridge in the future easy peasy!

Step 3: Add your containers to your refrigerator in a way that makes your most used items the most easily accessible.

Tip: Fresh fruit like berries and sliced fruit are great in containers with a snappable lid. Line with a tissue to help keep the moisture down and keep fruit fresher for longer.

Step 4: Start organizing! Taking your groups and beginning adding them one group at a time to the containers that make the most sense until the refrigerator is filled!

Home Cleaning Miracle Solution

We’re loving this Fresh Scent Home Miracle Solution.

Simply, start by adding sliced lemon or oranges (whichever scent you prefer or ingredients you have on hand), mint leaves, and cinnamon sticks (you can use powder if you don’t have sticks, but we think the sticks have a better scent to them) and a 1/2 of water and bring to a boil. Let the ingredients infuse and leave simmering until your whole home smells amazing.

That same Miracle Solution can be used to clean stubborn stains from plastic storage containers. Simply use Put some hot water, fairy liquid and a piece of kitchen roll in with the lid on, give it a good shake and leave it to soak. The kitchen paper *should* suck up those nasty stains and leave your plastic as good as new.

How To Remove Red Wine Stains From Your Carpet

So. You had a party to celebrate that big promotion or to break your new house. All the guests have gone… except that crazy big red wine stain in the middle of your gorgeous cream carpet. You can’t cover with a couch and you’re not really into rugs. And you won’t be able to get it out - will you?

That answer to that question isn’t a hard no. Actually, usually you CAN get red wine stains out of carpet with a little patience and some good old white vinegar. I mean, we could use the tried and true club soda, but who even has that on hand anymore?

What you need:

Dish soap

White vinegar

A white cloth (so the pigment doesn’t bleed)

A towel or paper towels

Steps:

  1. Take your towel(s) and blot the stain.

  2. Get two cups of warm water and mix in a tablespoon of dishwashing soap and a tablespoon of white vinegar.

  3. Pour a small amount of your cleaning solution onto the stain

  4. Using your white cloth, blot until the stain disappears, pouring more cleaning solution as needed.

Healthy Home Habits

We've started a lot of cleaning tips on our blog. Today we want to share tips on how to develop habits in your home that will help you keep it clean, for a longer period of time, and will help to avoid frequent deep cleaning.

Tend to the Vacuum.

The machine that removes the dirt from your home needs dirt removed from its inner workings from time to time. The best approach for cleaning is to refer to your owner's manual (if you still have it) if you don't, try to search YouTube for a video to help. Typically this includes removing a filter or bristle wand from your machine and cleaning it thoroughly.

Consider the soap you use.

Some types of soap leave significantly more soap scum than others. Keep your bathrooms cleaner by using soap with a base of glycerin or vegetable oil. These soaps do not stick to porous surfaces as much as other types of soap.

Pass the squeegee, please.

The simplest way to reduce the frequency cleaning your bathroom is to squeegee your shower and bathtub after use.
