How To Make Your Own Cleaning Wipes

Conserving finances is common thread in most households in 2022. With inflation causing home good prices to rise, DIY guides are becoming more and more handy. Amidst all the lovely homemade artworks and dryer repair videos, cleaning supplies seem to take a seat on the back-burner.

Making your own cleaning wipes seems like a small way to save a buck, but think about how fast you go through wipes (especially you parents, am I right?). And it is very simple to make cleaning wipes at home. (and bonus points you can use essential oils to your favorite scent). Once you follow this quick tutorial, you’ll wonder why you didn’t start doing this sooner!

Gather your supplies:

  • Paper towel roll

  • All purpose cleaner (just choose your favorite)

  • Glass measuring cup

  • A tall container with a lid

Step One

  • Take your paper towel roll and cut it in half using kitchen scissors or a bread knife. Put one half of the roll into the container.

Step Two

  • Mix equal parts of your cleaning solution and water in the measuring cup.

Step Three

  • Pour the cleaning solution over the paper towel roll into the container. **add essential oils if you wish

Step Four

  • Cover the container with the lid and let it sit for five minutes.

Step Five

  • Remove the lid and take out the brown paper towel roll center.

Bonus: Cut a hole in the top of the lid and pull a paper towel through for easy access to the cleaning wipes.

Home Organization Tips From The Pros

Organizing an entire house is a large task, and often too daunting. We suggest breaking the home down by room, give yourself a week for each room. It is likely each room will need some time to be cleaned, organized, and refinished to your liking. If you are going to take the time to reorganize allow yourself the time to find organization items (like racks, hooks, storage trunks and ottomans, carts, etc.) that suit your space and your style. Don’t rush it - you’ll be much happier with the results.

And you are organizing your space, dedicate a room or an outdoor space that you can put items that you are ready to donate. This will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed and help you to envision your new space and how it can function better for your lifestyle.

Don’t forget to clean! The task of organizing itself can be overwhelming at times, which can lead to burn out with no energy to clean. If this happens, remember you’ve given yourself a week (if you need more take it its your schedule!) take a break and come back to it when you are in a better head space to clean. Organization Tips For Your Bathroom

1. Like most cleaning tasks, organizing your bathrooms starts by Decluttering. We suggest pulling out items that have not been used in the past year and setting them aside to evaluate if you should keep them or not. Next take stock of unused accessories, items that are often moved but not used, artworks, storage bins or containers, linens, essential oils and medicines, and other toiletry items and combine similar items.

2. Next you’ll want to clean your bathroom with appropriate cleaning solutions, be mindful to use stone cleaners on surfaces like marble or granite. Pro-tip: use a pumice stone to remove hard water stains on porcelain sinks and toilets.

3. Purge. Now sift throw your piles and purge items you no longer use or have room for and find or purchase appropriate storage bins for the items you choose to keep. Pro-tip: use the Inside of Cabinet Doors for extra Storage in small spaces. 4. If you have drawer space, use drawer dividers to organize small items - they make a big difference! We turn again, to The Container Store for inspiration: https://www.containerstore.com/s/bath/bath-drawer-organizers/1

5. If you have multiple members of the family sharing the bathrooms space, we suggest creating personal bins for each family member to store their personal items like makeup, razors, and other personal items. We suggest using clear containers for easier access at any time (and age).

6. If you have space, we suggest adding a small trash can and a laundry bin to help keep items tidy.

7. If you do not have a linen closet store your towels in a small basket and install hooks on the back of your bathroom door for extra storage. Pro-tip: fold towels in thirds lengthwise, then into a rectangle to make the most of your space. If the space is too small or awkward, consider rolling your towels instead.
